Engineering Features

Forged 55# Carbon Steel Housing
The CV joint housing is manufactured from 55# carbon steel through hot forging, followed by machining and heat treatment. The forged construction provides the material strength required for repeated torque loading.
HRC 58–62 Induction-Hardened Raceway
The primary contact surfaces are induction hardened to HRC 58–62 to improve resistance to wear from repeated ball-to-raceway contact.
OE-Matched CNC-Machined Spline & Tracks
Spline teeth and internal raceway tracks are CNC machined to specified OE dimensions, controlling the mating geometry between the CV joint and drive shaft.
High-Temperature Moly Grease & CR Boot
The joint is assembled with high-temperature moly grease and a CR rubber / neoprene boot. The grease lubricates the internal contact surfaces, while the boot retains grease and limits contamination.
Application-Specific Configuration
Inner and outer CV joints, spline specifications, overall dimensions, and ABS ring configurations can be produced according to the required vehicle application.

CV Joint Configuration

Outer CV Joint
Wheel-side joint designed for the angular movement required at the wheel end of the drivetrain.

Inner CV Joint
Transmission-side joint designed to accommodate drivetrain movement while maintaining torque transmission.

ABS Ring
Available in configurations with or without an ABS ring, depending on the vehicle's original drivetrain system.

European & American Applications
Volkswagen · Audi · BMW · Ford · GM

Fitment Scope
Available for selected FWD and AWD passenger vehicle applications. Exact fitment should be confirmed by OE reference and vehicle-specific configuration before ordering.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between a CV joint and a complete CV axle?

A: A CV joint is an individual joint component, while a complete CV axle normally includes the shaft, CV joints, boots, clamps, and related components.

Q: When should a drive shaft CV joint be replaced?

A: Replacement is generally considered when the joint has clicking during turns, excessive play, abnormal vibration, or visible boot damage with grease loss.

Q: What causes a CV joint to make a clicking noise?

A: Clicking during steering or acceleration can result from worn ball tracks, excessive internal clearance, insufficient lubrication, or contamination inside the joint.

Q: Can a damaged CV boot affect the CV joint?

A: Yes. A torn boot can allow water, dust, and road debris to enter while allowing grease to escape, accelerating wear of the internal joint surfaces.

Q: Does the outer CV joint handle steering movement?

A: Yes. The outer joint is located at the wheel side and accommodates the angular movement required during steering and suspension operation.

Q: Why is the spline count important when replacing a CV joint?

A: The spline must match the mating shaft or hub connection. An incorrect tooth count, profile, or diameter can prevent proper installation even when the vehicle model appears to match.

Q: Can the same CV joint fit different engine or drivetrain versions of a vehicle?

A: Not necessarily. The same vehicle model may use different drive shafts, spline specifications, joint dimensions, or ABS configurations across engine and drivetrain versions.

Q: How can distributors reduce incorrect CV joint orders?

A: Use OE numbers together with vehicle application and inner/outer position when creating product catalogs and order records. For new references, a physical sample or drawing provides additional verification.

Q: What information should be included in a CV joint product listing?

A: A useful aftermarket listing should include OE references, vehicle applications, joint position, spline information, major dimensions, ABS configuration, and product photos to support identification before purchase.

Q: Can CV joint samples be used for aftermarket catalog verification?

A: Yes. Distributors can compare the sample with their existing reference parts and verify physical dimensions, spline engagement, joint configuration, and vehicle fitment before adding a new reference to their catalog.
